OUR YONI STEAM BLENDS & CHOOSING THE RIGHT ONE FOR YOU

yoni steaming herbs

Yoni steaming, also known as vaginal steaming or “Bajos” in Central and South America, is a revered ancient practice across many cultures.

It has been used for centuries to support women’s reproductive health. This practice gently cleanses, tones, and revitalises a woman’s pelvic centre, offering a wide range of benefits, such as reducing menstrual cramps and increasing fertility.

the art of Yoni Steaming

Yoni Steaming is a personalised treatment. Specific herbs address each woman’s individual health needs. The herbs are boiled and then used for steaming. Sitting over the aromatic steam with a blanket or towel, the pores of the vaginal tissues open, allowing for the direct absorption of the medicinal properties of the herbs into the bloodstream. Steaming takes advantage of the absorbent nature of the vaginal tissue for maximum benefit.

Choosing your yoni steam

cleansing blend

This blend of herbs is the most potent available. It helps to cleanse the uterus and improve blood circulation to the pelvis.

Additionally, it balances the vaginal flora, tones vaginal tissue, and clears out excess mucus and old menstrual residue while nourishing the reproductive organs. This blend is suitable for post-partum care, regulating long menstrual cycles (28 days or longer), women on oral contraceptives, women recovering from miscarriage, and those experiencing scant or absent periods.

Contains a selection of the following herbs:  Basil, Calendula, Rosemary, Nettle, Moringa, Lemongrass, Rose Petals, Licorice Root

cooling blend

This blend is for women experiencing signs of excess heat in the body, i.e. night sweats, vaginal dryness or hot flushes.  Women experiencing infections or viruses accompanied by vaginal burning (“dry” vaginal health conditions) will also benefit from using this blend.

This blend is also for women who live in hot climates. Additionally, this blend can help treat urinary tract infections (UTIs). The herbs included nourish, moisturise, and cool the body while supporting kidney health and enhancing fluid circulation in the pelvic region.

Contains a selection of the following herbs: Calendula, Neem, Nettle, Moringa, Lemongrass, Peppermint, Licorice Root

purifying blend

This blend is formulated for women who have excess vaginal discharge and infections or viruses that accompany it.  It includes herbs that help to kill bacteria, yeast and viruses whilst expelling toxins, getting rid of excess discharge, reducing inflammation and deodorising and resetting a healthy vaginal flora balance in the reproductive system.

This herb formula is suitable for those women with infections, inflammation, HPV, STD’s, viruses, irregular pap smears, cervical dysplasia or cancer – all accompanied at the same time by excess vaginal discharge (“damp” vaginal health conditions).

Note: If you have any of the above and you also have short menstrual cycles (27 days or less), then you should get both the Purifying Blend and the Soothing Blend. Use a 50/50 combo of the 2 herb blends until the acute conditions have subsided, then use the Soothing Blend going forward. If you have any of the above conditions but they are not accompanied with excess discharge, then the Cooling or Cleansing herbs would probably be the best choice for you.

Contains a selection of the following herbs: Motherwort, Calendula, Oregano, Neem, Nettle, Moringa, Lavender, Licorice Root.

soothing blend

This blend helps to gently clean the uterus whilst also extending short menstrual cycles (27 days or less) and stopping fresh spotting or interim bleeding – both signs of uterine fatigue.  It can also be helpful for post-partum mamas who are experiencing heavy blood flow, whose periods return before 9 months post-partum or who have a history of short menstrual cycles.   It is also suitable for use by girls under age 13.

Note:-  If you are experiencing any of the above conditions, the Soothing Blend is going to supersede any of the other herb formulas that you might believe are suitable for you.  This blend is definitely the most important one for you to use.

Contains a selection of the following herbs: Oregano, Nettle, Moringa, Lavender, Astragalus, Comfrey, Lemon Balm, Licorice Root.

When Not to yoni steam

While yoni steaming is beneficial for many, there are specific cases where it should be avoided:

Fresh Bleeding: Avoid steaming if there is any fresh bleeding, even just spotting, as steaming can increase heat and circulation, potentially leading to heavier bleeding.

Pregnancy: Steaming during pregnancy is not advised as it can open the cervix slightly, posing risks such as miscarriage or premature labour.

Post-Ovulation (if trying to conceive): It’s recommended to avoid steaming after ovulation days (approximately days 14-16) through the next two weeks, as it could potentially affect sperm survival or early pregnancy.

Spontaneous Heavy Bleeding or AUB: If you’ve experienced abnormal uterine bleeding or had two periods within a single month recently, avoid steaming until the condition is stable for at least three months.

You might also choose to avoid steaming, or opt for alternative treatments:

Chronic Infections with Burning Itch: If you have a chronic infection with intense itching, steaming may exacerbate the symptoms. A cooling herbal sitz bath might be more appropriate.

Tubal Ligation (coagulation method): Steaming can break down the scar tissue formed by this procedure, potentially reversing its effects. If you’ve undergone this, consider using a backup birth control method if you choose to steam.

Birth Control Implant: Devices like Implanon or Nexplanon work by creating a thick mucus that prevents sperm penetration and egg implantation. Steaming might clear this mucus, making these devices less effective.

Essure Birth Control: This involves a coil that promotes scar tissue to prevent pregnancy. Steaming might cause the scar tissue or coil to break down or dislodge, so a backup method is advised if you choose to steam.

Uterine Ablation: Since steaming can clear out scar tissue, it might reverse the effects of a uterine ablation, a procedure that reduces heavy menstrual flow by scarring the uterine walls.

What is the recommended frequency for general reproductive health and vitality?

For maintaining general reproductive health and vitality, the following guidelines are recommended:

If you are menstruating: Steaming once a week or for three consecutive days both before and after your period is beneficial. This schedule aligns with the weekly phases of a woman's cycle and supports hormonal balance and overall well-being.

Post-menopausal women: Steaming once a week is beneficial to maintain moisture and pelvic health.

How often should I steam for specific health issues?

If you are addressing specific reproductive health challenges such as infertility, endometriosis, PCOS, PMS, irregular periods, heavy bleeding, fibroids, uterine prolapse, healing after childbirth, chronic vaginal infections, vaginal dryness, or painful intercourse, it's crucial to consult with a trained yoni steaming facilitator.

You can book an online consultation with Yoni Vitality here, which includes three follow-up email check-ins over a three-month period. If symptoms persist, please consult your healthcare provider.
